    You're Invited!

Hi. I thought I'd start this thread as a place for FFA members to get the word out that they're available to work at additional festivals.

Please feel free to hit reply and add your spiel + links etc.

My name is Julie McElmurry and I love film festivals.

Hire me to manage volunteers (or paid staff), Venue Manage, plan educational events, panels, workshops, seminars or sweep out the makeshift theater.

I live in North Carolina but travel absolutely anywhere.

My website is www.nonfictional.org and I'm on LinkedIn.https://www.linkedin.com/in/juliemcelmurry/

I am happy to work in Venue Management and anything related to Volunteer/Personnel management. I've planned hundreds of events, mostly with a teeny tiny budget and I love bringing people together to build community. If you want a stable, sensible, experienced, sober, hardworking person to work with you seasonally, let's talk.

I have produced 100s of events related to filmmaking, started the Unconventional Film School in Charlotte, NC which filled 800 seats in 2019, just 3 years after I started gathering folks for informal conversations in coffeeshops. I was named a Fellow of the International Documentary Association for my work with that. I have been the Program Manager for The D-Word (www.d-word.com) for almost 5 years, have attended lots of film festivals, large and small.

I'm happy to provide names and contact info for supervisors who saw me in action and can vouch for me. Since Fall of 2024, I have worked for these festivals:

DOC NYC-Crew Manager of 75 paid crew members in 2024 and 2025

    FullFrame-Manager of 2 cinemas in 2025

DC/DOX-Venue Captain of a Multiplex theater in 2025

    Let's talk!

    Hi Julie,

REELpoetry is an international poetry film festival out of Houston, Texas.  The 2026 festival dates are Sept 18-25, (weekend live; weekdays virtual).  I am looking for a community services director.  Ideally the person would be local, but most aspects of the job  can be handled virtually, especially given that 45% of our audience is international. We have just rebranded ourselves and will be launching our new web site appox. Feb 1, which is also when our open call on Film Freeway begins. The community membership job is a new part-time position. See attached.  If you're interested, we can zoom to discuss further.
