Festival Coordinator
Location: Washington, DC
Employment Type: Full-time, Seasonal
Dates: January 12, 2026 through the end of May
Schedule: Detailed schedule to be discussed (40+ hours/week)
The Washington, DC International Film Festival (Filmfest DC) is seeking an experienced and motivated Festival Coordinator to support a wide range of administrative and coordinating responsibilities during the busy festival period. This role requires research, writing, organizational, communication, and database skills to ensure the smooth operation of the festival, which will take place April 16 - 26, 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
- Liaise with film distributors to secure materials for all selected films
- Assist with catalog content creation and the editing process
- Organize and manage ticket orders and distribution for the entire festival
- Work closely with the ticket sales manager, volunteer coordinator, hospitality coordinator, theater managers, venues, and sponsors
- Collaborate with the press relations team to ensure effective communication and outreach
- Maintain and update the festival website in partnership with the webmaster
- Oversee the email system, create and distribute eblasts, and manage email lists
- Manage and monitor all social media channels, with support from a social media coordinator during the festival
- Manage and supervise the intern team
- Complete the post-festival wrap-up
- Serve as Membership Coordinator for the DC Film Society
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Proven experience in administrative, coordinating, or project management roles
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Drive
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work well under pressure in a dynamic environment
- Personable, professional, and a team player
Preferred Skills:
- Basic knowledge of Canva for creating graphics and visual content.
- Familiarity with social media management and content creation
- Previous experience in event coordination or the film industry
Work Location:
The position is based in Washington, DC (onsite). Candidates must be able to reliably commute or relocate to Washington, DC 20008 before the start date.
