ABOUT HIFF

Founded in 1981, the Hawai'i International Film Festival (HIFF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and the premier cinematic event in the Pacific. HIFF is the only Academy Award–qualifying film festival in the world with a dedicated focus on Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander content. For over four decades, HIFF has served as a vital cultural bridge between East and West, championing diverse, indigenous, and international storytellers through world-class exhibition and programming.
HIFF's marquee event – the annual Fall Festival – draws over 50,000 attendees and screens 300+ films from more than 50 countries. And our organization also runs year-round programming that includes the ʻŌpio Fest youth showcase, the HIFILM Industry Conference, monthly membership mixers and screenings, community events, and education initiatives across the Hawaiian Islands.
